APSA double-nominates Iranian ‘Bomb: A Love Story’

The 12th edition of the Asia Pacific Screen Awards has nominated Iranian feature ‘Bomb: A Love Story’ in two categories.

Director/writer/actor Peyman Moaadi's ‘Bomb, a Love Story’ is recently nominated for the award for best screenplay.

The film has also received a nomination for the award for Best Original Score composed by the celebrated Greek musician Eléni Karaïndrou.

‘Bomb, a Love Story’ depicts romance in the war stricken Iran in the late 80s. It is about Tehran, the Iranian capital which is being bombed and terror is spread among the civilians.

It shows how love and emotions, life and hope wash away the horrific image of the war.

The acclaimed title has won several nominations at the latest edition of Fajr Film Festival in Iran.

The film is also scheduled to go on screen at the 2018 edition of the Bogazici Film Festival in Turkey.

The director stars in his own flick, alongside Siamak Ansari, Habib Rezaei, Siamak Safari, and Leila Hatami.

The APSA is an international cultural initiative of the Brisbane City Council, Australia, to honor and promote the films, actors, directors, and cultures of the Asia-Pacific region to a global audience.

It is aimed to realize the objectives of UNESCO to promote and preserve the respective cultures through the influential medium of film.

Iranian actor Navid Mohammadzadeh received the special mention award at the 11th APSA, held in the Australian city of Brisbane on Thursday, November 23, for his performance in Vahid Jalilvand’s ‘No Date, No Signature’.

Winners of the 12th APSA are scheduled to be announced during a ceremony, to be held in Brisbane on November 29, 2018.
